There are some big changes coming to the Royal Foundation. After a recent board meeting, it appears that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be exiting the charity that Harry and his brother, Prince William, started a decade ago to carry on their mother’s charitable legacy with their own charitable ambitions and activities.
According to Page Six, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are leaving the foundation amid rumors of a rift between them and Prince William and Kate Middleton. Both Middleton and Markle joined their husbands’ foundation as patrons when they become part of the royal family, but now Harry and Meghan are ready to break away and focus on their own passion projects.

An insider says that leading up to the board meeting, everybody was “massively stressed,” about all of the changes. The palace announced earlier this year that the Royal Foundation was “reviewing its structures,” but they have yet to formally announce Harry and Meghan’s departure.
A spokesperson said that “any announcement regarding this review will be made in due course,” but the rumor is that the official exit will come some time after Wednesday’s board meeting.
This latest split comes three months after Harry and Meghan officially separated their royal household from William and Kate’s. The parents of Archie Harrison moved out of Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage at Windsor ahead of his birth.
“[The Queen] has agreed to the creation of a new household for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following their marriage in May last year,” the palace said in a statement at the time. “The household, which will be created with the support of the queen and The Prince of Wales, will be established in the spring. This long-planned move will ensure that permanent support arrangements for the duke and duchess’ work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage.”
Queen Elizabeth also gave permission for Harry and Meghan to based their household office at Buckingham Palace, and they would also have their own communications team that would report to The Queen’s communication secretary.
Meghan and Harry also started their own Instagram page @sussexroyal, leaving @kensingtonroyal for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Royal experts claim that William and Harry did have a falling out and there was tension between them because of Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle. However, the two brothers are on better terms now that William realizes how happy his brother is with his new wife and son.
Ultimately, the brothers are going their separate ways because it’s the right time to do so. They are both husbands and fathers with different interests, and they also have very different futures ahead of them.

William’s responsibility is to prepare to be the future heir to the throne, while Harry’s royal duties are primarily focused on charity work.
