Even though I adore Angelina Jolie, it’s a complete mystery to me why people have started talking about her like she’s some kind of style icon. Tim Gunn talked about her like she’s the most flawless woman on the red carpet this awards season. In my mind, sometimes Angie gets it right, sometimes she gets it wrong. When she’s wrong, it’s not horrible (though she should maybe get a new stylist), but when she’s right, it’s pretty spectacular.
Say what you will about someone like Nicole Kidman (and I’ve said a lot of negative stuff about her), but Nicole really knows how to dress, and you can tell she spends a lot of time putting together her look, which I appreciate as a casual observer. No matter what my feelings about Nicole, I can’t deny that she makes for a really interesting red carpet. Angelina usually looks like she just grabbed the first dress she tried on, which, as I said, is sometimes good, sometimes bad.
As it turns out, I’m right about Angelina putting on the first dress she sees, according to an OK! interview with designer Nicole Miller. Apparently, Jolie has worn a few of Miller’s dresses in the past (news to me), and Miller claims that Angie isn’t one of those fashionistas who’s always in the designer’s studio for fittings and whatnot. Miller was always surprised when Angie wore one of her dresses, because she must have gotten it off the rack. Shocking!
Most female celebs spend hours closeted with exclusive designers to find just the right look for important events, discussing every detail, color and fabric.
But Angelina Jolie is so relaxed about clothing her perfect body, she just picks her gowns right from the racks!
“I’ve met Angelina but every time she’s worn my dresses I didn’t know she was going to wear it so it was a surprise to me,” designer Nicole Miller tells OK!. “She didn’t wear it because I was working with her. I wasn’t expecting it.”
Nicole usually finds out Angie’s wearing one of her pieces after the star is photographed on the red carpet, and her friends tell her, ” ‘Angelina Jolie is in the paper with your dress on.’ I go, ‘Really?’ I had no idea she was wearing it.”
Although the busy mom skips lengthy style sessions with the designer, Nicole says when they met she was nothing but nice.
“And she’s not as tall as I thought she would be,” she adds. “She was just very pleasant and easy.”

Earlier today, we reported on Angelina’s desire to wear a blinged-out necklace “to impress Jennifer Aniston”, which many of you think is utter bullshit. I agree. I’d be willing to bet Angie already has her off-the-rack dress already picked out, including accessories. Although it’s really nice to know that Angelina is “easy.”
